Information for New Patients

Welcome to Southview Dentistry! We are looking forward to working with you for all of your dental needs. Dentistry is our passion; we are committed to helping you have healthy teeth and a beautiful smile. Please read the following guide so you know what to expect before your first visit with us.

What do I need to do?
When you scheduled your appointment, our administrative team should have sent you an email with our New Patient paperwork. Kindly fill out the paperwork before your first visit to save some time on the day of your appointment. If you did not receive the paperwork or email, please contact our front desk to request another copy.

If you have dental insurance, please make sure to bring your insurance card so that we can work directly with your insurance company to determine your benefits and arrange payment. If you provide your insurance information before your first visit, we can complete a complimentary benefit verification prior to your visit so that you know exactly what services will be covered and what your financial responsibility will be.

Please plan to arrive a few minutes before your scheduled visit so that we can check you in and ensure all necessary paperwork has been completed prior to your appointment time.
What will happen during the first visit?
Once you arrive at the office, we will request your insurance card and photo ID and make a copy for our records. We will also make sure that your New Patient paperwork has been filled out. If you have not been able to complete the paperwork, we will provide a copy so that you can finish it before your appointment.

We will also email you a copy of our Patient Appreciation Letter, which will discuss our office policies and procedures so that you are familiar with the office. Finally, we will take a photo and attach it to your medical chart for identification purposes only.

During your appointment, our dental hygienists will take a full set of x-rays and perform a thorough cleaning of your mouth, teeth and gums. The hygienist will then review the x-rays and photos with you to identify any potential problems before you meet with the dentist. The dentist will then come in and perform a full, comprehensive exam. Dr. Micheal or Dr. Kelly will review all of the x-rays, assessment data from the hygienist, and intraoral photos taken during your entire visit and discuss their findings with you.

If any problems are identified, we will discuss your diagnosis and the next steps. We spend the time needed to make sure that you understand and are comfortable with your plan. Patient education is a priority, and this shows from our very first visit with you.

Your first appointment will be approximately 90 minutes, so please plan accordingly.
How much will the visit cost?
Prior to every new patient visit, we will perform a benefits check with your dental insurance company. We can give you more detailed information once this has been completed. If you don’t have dental insurance, we do have an in-office discount plan that is especially for our cash-paying patients. It offers a significant discount on our fees to make the visit and your care more affordable.

We can also provide information about financing options to help you pay for your dental work.
What services do you provide?
Southview Dentistry is a full general dentistry practice. We offer many services, including:

  • Same day crowns
  • Cosmetic dentistry
  • Restorative repairs
  • Invisalign
  • Preventative care
  • Tooth replacement
  • Extractions
  • Jaw pain

  • Sedation dentistry

We are proud to care for your entire family. We believe that good dental habits begin with the first teeth, and aim to provide the best and most comfortable dental care for young children through adolescence and into adulthood.

We also have close relationships with a number of local specialists so that we can refer you to a highly qualified provider if your case requires more specialized care.
What if I’m very nervous about seeing a dentist?
At Southview, we understand that some people have a significant fear of dental work. In many cases, this has led to people avoiding simple cleanings or their dental check-ups for years. If this sounds familiar, we encourage you to let your dental hygienist and dentist know!

We can help you work through your fears and get the dental care you need for a healthy smile. In severe cases, we offer varying levels of sedation to help you with anxiety and discomfort associated with your treatment. Our goal is to provide you with a comfortable and pleasant experience every time you are in our office.
How are you different from other offices?
At Southview Dentistry, we utilize the latest in digital dentistry techniques to improve your care. Our office features a digital x-ray system to make getting x-rays less stressful and more comfortable. There are no large plastic film sensors to bite down on anymore; our system uses a much smaller sensor that immediately sends an image directly to our computer. The digital images also improve our diagnostic and treatment planning capabilities.

In addition, all of the water used in our office passes through a rigorous water filtration and purification system before it comes near our patients.

We offer massaging dental chairs and flat screen TVs to demonstrate just how important your comfort is while you are in our office. But what truly sets us apart is the personal attention and care we give to each and every one of our patients.
How do I schedule an appointment?
It is easy to schedule an appointment with our office. You can go directly to our website to request an appointment, or you can call, email or text the office for all of your routine scheduling needs.
