Modern Difference

Modern Technology – Making a Difference in Your Charlotte Dental Care

When you seek care with our office, you are assured that Southview will utilize the latest in technology. We want to enhance not only your dental experience but also the quality and fit for your dental care. Techniques for regular dental check-ups, as well as more complex procedures, have changed tremendously over the years. Today’s modern family dentistrys includes cosmetic surgeries, implants and teeth whitening. These modern differences mean less time spent at the dental office for you. Below are some examples of the technology used in our office.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays offer you a quicker, more comfortable way to have X-rays done. They are also safer than the older, traditional method of taking X-rays. Less radiation is used and the equipment is much smaller. Digital X-rays are taken with a small sensor and the results are immediate. Both the dentist and the patient have images and can be seen via a computer monitor. This modern technique allows us to give patients a quicker and more accurate diagnosis. There’s no waiting – as soon as the X-ray is taken, it appears on the patient’s computer monitor. Digital X-rays also allow us improved diagnosis and patient treatment.

Water Filtration System

As a further example of our commitment to the best possible patient experience, all the water used in our practice is purified to extract any impurities before ever reaching your mouth. In the past, patients could have inadvertently been exposed to germs through water sources at a dentist’s office. At Southview Dentistry, we use purified water only. This ensures that we are in no way unknowingly causing our patients’ harm. Our purification system extracts all impurities before your exam or procedure is even started.

Invisalign Process

The most common form of braces is the unsightly metal brackets that are worn for up to 2 years. After braces, there was usually a wire retainer that was recommended for everyday use but because of the look people chose not to wear them. In today’s dentistry, we’re able to make braces virtually invisible. Invisalign’s lightweight fit makes daily wear pleasant and allows for much less discomfort.

Dental Implants

Traditional approaches to lost teeth are still used such as bridges, partials, and full dentures. Implants, however, are the latest, modern-day option in replacing teeth. They are attached directly to your jaw bone to ensure a strong hold. They can also be used to hold dentures in place.

The decision to have implants should be discussed with your dentist. At Southview Dentistry, we have an experienced specialist you can meet with for a consultation. If decided that you are a good candidate for implants, be prepared for several appointments to complete the procedure.

Cosmetic Procedures

Veneers and teeth whitening are our main cosmetic treatments, besides Invisalign. Like Invisalign, crowns and veneers can be used to help make your teeth straight and even. Veneers are used for teeth that are chipped or have a small gap between them while crowns are used for repairing teeth that are damaged and to cover dental implants. Our professional teeth whitening trays help rid your teeth of stains and restores them to a beautiful, white shine.
